Your Support Means Everything!
Thank you to each and every one of our 74 North Texas Giving Day donors who helped us raise more than $20,000 in support of our Guild programs! Your support helps to supplement Theatre Conservatory needs, provide scholarships, and to feed our talented students during shows. Bravo!
Speaking of shows - Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play opens this week! The cast and crew are busily working to get ready for showtime. We can get ready by reserving our tickets and signing up to volunteer. Keep scrolling for all the information and links.
The Theatre Guild is filled with gratitude at the start of this week because of the generosity bestowed upon our students, faculty, and staff this North Texas Giving Day! Because of YOU, the generous contributions to our Guild will have a significant effect on the programs we can offer during the 2024-2025 school year. YOU answered the call and will forever change the trajectory of our students' well-being and experiences at Booker T. We are forever grateful.

Mr. Gavitt still needs brown paper grocery bags. Students can drop them off in room 248.
We will update this post when he has collected enough. Until then you can bring those lawless grocery bags into Booker T!
Your donations will help the Guild support the Theatre Conservatory students & teachers. Donated snacks and water bottle are sold by Guild volunteers before Theatre Conservatory Shows and during intermission. You are invited to shop on Amazon using the Theatre Guild's Wish List. Amazon will ship donations directly to Concessions Chair Alicia Rico. Or you can shop for water bottles or any of the other requested items in a brick and mortar store and deliver to Booker T. during Tech Week (before the run of the show). Donations that are dropped off must be clearly marked "Theatre Guild Concessions."
Huge thanks to the Feed the Kids Co-Chairs Ashley Gregory and Stephanie Ruibal for providing snacks and boxed meals during the first four days of rehearsal last week. Thanks to Alicia Schortgen for stocking the snack cart with a bevy of items on Wednesday and to Rhonda Thompson for Thursday evening pizza!
There are nine more nights of meals for Mr. Burns tech rehearsals & performances on 9/23-27 & 10/1-10/4. Each night FTK is providing 58 meals. Due to the number of late rehearsals and performances FTK will ultimately be responsible for providing food for a total of 14 days.
The Opening Night meals have been generously donated by the Schortgen family.
The Closing Night meals have been donated by the Louthan/Gregory, Mansour & Thompson families.
If you would like to make an additional donation of you can do so online using this link to our Theatre Guild online donations webpage or contact Feed the Kids via email. For additional information about donating a meal for the entire 58 members of the Mr. Burns cast, crew and faculty you should reach out to Feed the Kids Co-Chairs Ashley Gregory and Stephanie Ruibal
We don't want to miss an appearance or accomplishment! We rely on our guild members to let us know where to spot a Pegasus in the wild. If your Pegasus is in a non-Booker T production, please let us know. Our talented kids are so busy we need your eyes and ears to make sure we get the word out. Please include viewing dates, ticket links and any other details that will help us spot a Pegasus in the Wild. Alumni are Pegasi as well so keep those tips coming in too!!!
Trace Edge (BTW 2024) was recently spotted in the official music video for Wade Bowen's Friday Night. Trace's scenes were shot over the summer in Maypearl and Waxahachie before he left to attend Pace University in New York. Check it out link to Wade Bowen - Friday Night.
Information for Theatre Seniors
College Application Fees
The fees for applying to college can add up but there are ways to reduce those costs. Some colleges provide free application codes directly to students via email or targeted mailers or even to those who tour campus. There are Common Application fee waivers available from the BTW college counselor upon request.
Thanks to Booker T parent Kristy Moore for forwarding this list of colleges providing free applications during September.
Countdown until Senior Showcase!
Remember that the majority of Senior Showcase for the Theatre Conservatory occurs on Friday November 22 and Saturday November 23. (That is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. If you are planning to travel you will want to take that into consideration.) Showcase requires lots of Theatre parent volunteers to run smoothly. The Theatre Guild looks to the parents of 9-11th graders because parents of seniors are not allowed to be present at or volunteer during Theatre Showcase Events.
Here is a sampling of the Theatre Conservatory Showcase Events and Activities in 2023. The 2024 schedule may vary slightly but this will give you an idea of what to expect. You may recognize some of the class of 2025 dressed in black. Those students were serving as Junior Buddies to assist the Class of 2024 Seniors who were showcasing in the Technical Theatre Showcase. Junior Buddies typically help their seniors set up on Friday evening and again on Saturday through the end of the Tech Theatre Showcase.
