PRESIDENT'S CORNER
November General Membership Meeting

Congratulations to our students in the Musical Theatre class on their performances last week!

November's General Membership Meeting will take place this Wednesday, November 8, due to the fact that we have no school Tuesday (get out and vote instead!). There will be something for parents of all grade levels at this meeting.  Mr. Miller will talk about the preparation process for students interested in being a part of the musical theatre program in future years and members of our College Showcase team will let parents know how to participate as a 9-11 grade volunteer or as a supporting senior parent. In addition, we will have membership signs for pickup or purchase.  Please make a point to be there. We will meet in the black box after the PTSA meeting concludes (about 7:00 p.m.)

Our December Meeting will be a celebration not-to-be-missed at the home of the Reyes Family on December 9 - Save the Date!

Read on for volunteer needs, playbill deadlines, and all things College Showcase!

Musical Theatre Practicum
Our wonderful volunteers
Donation Opportunity for All Parents

We need donations of paper goods & plastic ware (to make all that eating easier) as well as pre-packaged snacks (individual sized oreos, cheezits, pretzels, etc); cans of soda; grab and go breakfast (poptarts, granola bars, mini muffins & more). And we'll take your leftover Halloween candy to use November 16-18 in the Theatre Guild's Hospitality Room used by the College Reps and the student space in the Senior Cafeteria balcony. (Note that senior parents may not volunteer on campus during Theatre Showcase events BUT Seniors parents are welcome to bring donations or send money to cover the purchase of these items.) You can use this link to tell us what you are donating & read the details about our two drop off options.

Opportunities for 9-11th grade Parents
Volunteer in the Hospitality Rooms

These volunteer slots are open for parents of 9-11th graders who want to volunteer on campus before and during Showcase on November 16-18 in the Theatre Guild's Hospitality Room used by the College Reps or the student space in the Senior Cafeteria balcony. (Note that senior parents may not volunteer during Showcase events.) You can use this link to volunteer during Showcase.

Opportunities for Senior Parents
Help with Senior Headshot Displays

The Conservatory needs help adding the Seniors' resumes to the frames outside the Black Box.  (This will need to be done before Nov 13.) We will also mat a second set of Senior Headshots to display in the College Rep Hospitality Suite. (Volunteers will hang this set on Thursday Nov 16.)

Set Up & Decorate for Showcase

We need help getting the Senior Cafeteria balcony and the College Reps Hospitality space (in room 174) ready for Showcase on Thursday November 16th in the evening starting at 5pm. We expect to move tables, hang 72 headshots, decorate, set up the gift tables and help pre-stage for the food and drinks that will be served. There is something for everyone to do no matter their skill set.

Donate Money for Faculty Dinner

Traditionally Seniors' families provide ready-to-eat dinners for the Theatre faculty to enjoy at home after Showcase Saturday. Please donate money to make this possible.

Reach out if you are the parent of a senior who would like to donate or volunteer.

Hospitality Opportunities for All Parents
Hospitality Opportunities After Showcase

If you've been to a Guild event where food was served, you've probably experienced the magic of the Theatre Guild Hospitality Chair. Although Showcase is one of the biggest events of the year, the fun and the opportunities don't stop in November. Consider volunteering as part of the Hospitality Committee. No cooking or donations required.... just your time. You can help scout new sources for meals. Or make the calls to place orders. You may even be able to run errands to pick up treats for our hungry Pegasi & their families.

So if you've got creative ways to feed a crowd. Or if you want to volunteer but have a tight schedule, maybe you prefer to squeeze in a few minutes to place orders. And you may even get to put your mad driving skills picking up items for events.  (It's like picking up for carpool but without the kids singing show tunes or running lines in the back seat.)  Times are somewhat flexible -- mainly because there are a number of options and if you were not able to help during Showcase don't worry, we will have many more events through the year. Interested in learning more? Contact Amy Buehler at 214-208-8167 or akbuehler@gmail.com

SENIOR CORNER
Countdown to Showcase Week!
November 13 - 18
Choose Your Own Adventure

We keep repeating that the Class of 2024 is unique. Not only did their path through Booker T begin differently than all that came before them, these seniors continue to cut their own new paths.  The Class of 2024 ran their showcase monologues and showed their portfolios to their fellow Pegasi on an early Cue Day a full two weeks before Theatre Showcase Events start! These seniors are currently Choosing Their Own Adventures as they submit college applications, portfolios, and prescreens all while juggling their courses and prepping for Showcase.

Senior Parents if you are interested in volunteering to help set up before Showcase, we will be at Booker T on Thursday November 16 from 5 to 7pm. We need help with everything from moving tables and chairs to hanging the 72 senior headshots in the Hospitality Suite. Whatever your skills, we can find a way to put you to work!

Reach out to the Theatre Guild's Senior Committee Chair Kathy Gameros kgameros@sbcglobal.net  for other ways you can help before Showcase.  (Senior parents are not allowed to volunteer on campus at the actual Theatre Conservatory events or in the Theatre Guild Hospitality rooms but you can make donations or help set up.)

You can find last week's special edition Showcase enews using this link.  Don't forget about the Theatre Guild Meeting at 7pm on Wednesday November 8th.  It's a great chance to ask any questions about Senior Showcase.

We need more money to buy the Theatre Faculty dinner on Showcase Saturday.
Theatre Conservatory Showcase Events

http://www.btwshowcase.com/theatre-schedule.html

This is informational so you know what the seniors' Theatre Showcase schedule involves. Parents may come to the Thursday November 16th Dress Rehearsal. Parents of Seniors are not invited to Showcase events and cannot volunteer in the hospitality suite or senior cafeteria during Showcase.

Vegetarian? Vegan? Gluten Free? Dairy Free?

During Showcase the Theatre Guild plans snacks and meals for the showcasing seniors including lunch on Friday and both breakfast & lunch on Saturday. The Hospitality Chair Amy Buehler works really hard to keep the kids happy and fed but she cannot accommodate the seniors' dietary preferences or allergies if she does not know about them. Here is your chance to remind your senior to complete this Google form. Or go ahead and complete it for them.
