BTW Mock Trial Advances to State

On Thursday February 17, the 2022 BTW mock trial team won their round against Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet with a UNANIMOUS decision by the judging panel and will be advancing to the 43rd annual Texas High School Mock Trial State Competition to be held on March 4-5. Veteran lawyers seniors Abby Chapman & Zoë Gameros were joined at counsel table by freshman lawyer Maxine Louthan.  Experienced witnesses Connor Ortiz (a senior) and Isabel Gameros (a sophomore) took the stand along with junior & first year competitor Claire Taylor.  Freshman Erin Mansour served as the timekeeper for the round.  Senior & veteran witness Arden Carethers was not on the stand for the most recent round but her role in prior rounds was certainly instrumental in the team advancing in the DISD regional competition.  Timekeeper and senior Brooklyn Bier (Music) also participated in the earlier DISD quarter final round.  The entire BTW mock trial team will now be joining BTW’s courtroom artist Jordan Clark (Visual Arts) who was already awarded first in District and is also advancing to State.

Congratulations to the team, coach Satchel Victory, and attorney adviser Abigail Mathews!
