PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Get Involved!
Thank you to our parents and juniors who helped with weekend taping for the seniors participating in Young Arts this year. I loved listening in as the staff spent their valuable weekend hours coaching their students to give their best performances in hopes of possible cash prizes and national recognition. Last year 2 of the 20 US Presidential Scholars in the Arts were from our high school theatre program. Amazing! Students 9th-11th grade students are also eligible to apply on their own with a deadline of October 13. Visit https://youngarts.org/apply/ for more information about the process and benefits.
Before Young Arts filming was the Hispanic Heritage Festival. It's so wonderful to see the conservatories working together on a project. Thank you to Ms. Price for her guidance as part of this process and congratulations to the theatre students that participated. It was beautiful to watch!
Playwrights for the 10 minute festival have been chosen! Check out the details below and "break a leg" to those performers auditioning next week to bring their stories to life.
Get involved! Our first big theatre volunteering opportunity is coming up with Big Love, the first main stage theatre show of the year. The best way to meet your student's classmates is Feed the Kids. Can't make it that early? Try volunteering for concessions and merchandise. It's a great way to meet other parents and you can still watch the show whether you student is participating or not. Can't find the time to show up in person? We have opportunities to donate for concessions sales and Feed the Kids desserts.
It's a quick four years. Whether it's as a volunteer or as an audience member, we encourage you AND your student to take full advantage of all Booker T has to offer.
What: Student Recognition Playbill ads are an excellent way to celebrate a student who is in the CAST or CREW of the show or show your support for Booker T Theatre performances.
How: It is easy – just submit the artwork (picture or clipart) and the copy you wish to have with the artwork to the Playbill Coordinator at playbill@btwtheatreguild.com. Or you can create your own ad.
What does it cost to place an ad in one Playbill?

Half page vertical 2.5" x 8" $50
Half page horizontal 5" x 4" $50
Quarter page 2.5" x 4" $25
Where can I buy an ad? Ads can be purchased online using this link to the BTW Theatre Guild or you can use your membership benefits for an ad. Theatre Guild membership benefits for guild members at the Copper ($75) level and above include one or more ads.
Does my membership come with an ad? All levels at Copper or above get FULL page student recognition playbill ads (which can be broken into ¼ or ½) as follows:*

If you are already a member, please make sure to tell us that you intend to use one of your included ad when you email your ad materials to playbilldesign@btwtheatreguild.com
We don't want to miss an appearance or accomplishment! We rely on our guild members to let us know where to spot a Pegasus in the wild. If your child is in a non-Booker T production, please let us know. Our talented kids are so busy we need your eyes and ears to make sure we get the word out. Please include viewing dates, ticket links and any other details that will help us spot a Pegasus in the Wild. Alumni are Pegasi as well so keep those tips coming in too!!!
If you are the parent or guardian of a Theatre Conservatory student you are invited to join the individual class Facebook group for additional information & updates about everything that is going on at Booker T.
All Facebook groups are private and you will need to provide your BTW student's name and answer the questions in order for your request to join to be approved.
It's October and Showcase is approaching. Showcase Chair Cindi Wakefield has overseen the updating of the Theatre Showcase webpages and sent email invitations to hundreds of reps. The Guild's mailing list has grown to over 1000 individuals. But if your senior really wants to make an impression, they can send their own personalized email invitation. And the letter has already been written for your senior to personalize and email.
