PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Hello 2024!
After an eventful December that included our 10 Minute Play Festival, our Guild Holiday Party and Angel Tree donations for Holland Elementary, I hope each of you had the opportunity to rest and reconnect with family and friends over Winter Break. As I spent time away from Booker T events, I was able to reflect on the joy this past semester has been and how grateful I am to be a part of such a wonderfully giving group. It is evident to me that we all want the best experiences for our students and staff in the Theatre Conservatory.
Our next Main Stage show will begin with a student preview on January 17 for A Midsummer Night's Dream. See below how you can be a part of supporting this production by volunteering or donating concessions.
Need some performing arts entertainment before then? Check out Young Arts online using the information provided in today's newsletter.
I am looking forward to another great semester working together!
We don't want to miss an appearance or accomplishment! We rely on our guild members to let us know where to spot a Pegasus in the wild. If your child is in a non-Booker T production, please let us know. Our talented kids are so busy we need your eyes and ears to make sure we get the word out. Please include viewing dates, ticket links and any other details that will help us spot a Pegasus in the Wild. Alumni are Pegasi as well so keep those tips coming in too!!!
Before the curtain went up on the closing show, Senior Kat McElhenie was awarded a scholarship from Junior Players. Kat intends to study musical theatre after they graduate in May. Congrats to Kat McElhenie!
The cast of Junior Players' Legally Blonde featured a number of Booker T students from the Theatre and Music Conservatories. Theatre Conservatory seniors Trace Edge and Kat McElhenie were joined onstage by Music Conservatory seniors Alexis Muturi and Keelyn Singleton. The cast also included Theatre Conservatory juniors Josiah Gamino, Isabella Gream, and Maddie Sandock; sophomores Coy Choi, Charlotte Foree and Annabelle Thackray as well as freshman El Wakefield. The original casting was adjusted to accommodate Alexis Muturi's trip to Young Arts week. On January 4 & 5, Alexis Muturi was in the role of Elle and Isabella Gream was Margot. On January 6 & 7th, Isabella Gream took on the role of Elle and Elle Wakefield was Margot. Booker T. Faculty member Phil Vilar had a walk on role onstage and also led a lighting crew that included Lighting Designer and Booker T. senior Josephine Miller as well as spot op freshman Nick Gameros. Learning Lab teacher Lauren LeBlanc served as the Assistant Director.
Young Arts Week
Musical Theatre senior Alexi Muturi, Dance junior Macie Krause and Music senior Sebastian Payan will be joining the other students from across the country recognized as YoungArts Winners with Distinction in Miami for YoungArts Week 2024.
