Kendall Stafford - Black to the Future Director

Hi! My name is Kendall Stafford. I am a senior in the Theatre Conservatory and the director of BTWHSPVA’s 2022 African American Show, entitled “Black to the Future”.

This production has truly been a labor of love. So many people- from the AA Show enrichment class, dancers and choreographers, visual artists, musicians, teachers (shoutout to Ms. Price), and so many others- have contributed their time and energy, in order to produce something worthy of adoration, worthy of note, and worthy of the MAT stage.

This show explores the concept of Black identity through futuristic and historical elements. To say the least, it’s epic! I recommend everyone comes and sees the show (2/22 and 2/23 @7 PM). You will learn a lot…I know I have.

PAUL BAKER NEW PLAY FESTIVAL

"Dr. Paul Baker was the founding Director of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and since 1976 his genius and passion for the arts and academics has propelled generations of students on to a multitude of careers, not only in the arts, but in academia and engineering and in the sciences. That is a true testament to his vision of what this school should be. It should be a place to celebrate the learning and the genius that is inherent in every student.” - Dr. Scott Rudes, Principal
